Position Summary:

The Oculoplastic Reconstructive Specialist is a board certified or board eligible ophthalmologist who is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as, but not limited to, droopy eyelid, including blepharoplasty and blepharoptosis repair, tear duct infections and abnormalities, orbital trauma and orbital abnormalities including inflammation, infections and tumors as well as cosmetic procedures. The Oculoplastics Reconstructive Specialist will perform procedures and surgery in order to provide quality, comprehensive care to OCCR patients.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat eye conditions related to oculoplastics, reconstructive and cosmetics, but may provide general eye care as well.
  • Provide clear explanation of issue and care plan to patient.
  • Perform necessary procedure or surgery.
  • Provide follow up care as needed or in collaboration with peers.
  • Utilize electronic medical record with accuracy to document patient visit.
  • See add-on/ER patients as assigned, participate in call schedule.
  • Participate in practice and/or physician meetings as needed/required.
  • Follow practice processes and procedures as well as safety protocols.
  • Remain in compliance with all federal and state requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and NY State license.
  • Completion of ophthalmology residency and fellowship training in oculoplastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel.
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with patients, providers, clinical staff, colleagues, managers and others.
  • Exceptional listening skills.
  • Articulate and professional in manner and presentation.
  • Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience by anticipating, taking action and striving to exceed expectations.
  • Team player who is an active participant as a team member and establishes strong working relationships with teammates and across the organization.

Work Environment:

Ophthalmic Consultants of the Capital Region is a busy private practice with 16 physicians and five office locations. Employees are frequently engaged in repetitive tasks and are primarily working in a medical office environment interacting with patients, physicians and colleagues. Employees are occasionally exposed to biological hazards including, but not limited to, blood borne pathogens and/or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions. The noise level is usually moderate.

 Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the physician is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The physician is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The physician is occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physician must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds when assisting patients. Additional Information:

This position requires work to be performed on-site in one or more of our medical office locations as well as offsite locations such as an ambulatory surgery center or hospital. Ability to travel to and between our office locations is required. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
